Action Plan for standards connecting and co-building the "Belt and Road" released

The action plan for standards connecting and co-building the "Belt and Road" (2018-2020) was officially released in Beijing on December 22, 2017, and will take into effect from January 1, 2018.

The plan defines the goals in the next three years: by 2020, the new format of standards development shall be formed with open and inclusive features to facilitate exchange and mutual evaluation, interconnection and result sharing; the compatibility of Chinese standards with foreign, international standard system shall be increasingly improved; standardization shall play a fundamental and strategic role in promoting the "Belt and Road" Initiative.
The action plan focuses on the interconnection and major projects, deploys nine key tasks, plans national standardization resources as a whole and arranges nine special actions.
The new era gives China's standardardization work with new missions and tasks:
Fiirst, the opening and cooperation of standardization shall be used to promote the interconnection of policy, facility, trade, fund and public mind; Second, Chinese standards shall be globalized to facilitate technical communication and product capability cooperation with countries along the B&R; Third, standards mutual recognition shall be further expanded to promote compatibility of the standards systems of B&R countries; Forth, Chinese standard's brand effect shall be enhanced to contribute to the construction of the B&R.
