Date: 2017-04-21

CNIS and UL (Underwriter Laboratories Inc.) hold a meeting in Beijing on April, 10, 2017, focused on fields including green design and manufacturing, supply chain management, environmental health & safety, both sides conducted a deep discussion and established a long-term partnership, and reached consensus to create a comprehensive, far-reaching and in-depth cooperative pattern with regard to the construction of overseas inspection laboratory capacity for energy efficiency label, the comparison of experimental data of Energy & Water Efficiency Engineering Center of AQSIQ, and researches on relative standards and evaluation mechanism of green development.

During the meeting, CNIS and UL signed the memorandum of understanding on cooperation based on the promotion of energy label system in China, aiming to develop energy efficiency worldwide by playing their roles in international publicity, construction of foreign laboratory capacity and comparative study of global energy efficiency data.

The energy label system in China has covered five categories including thirty-five kinds of energy-consuming products since it took into effect in 2005. The energy label system in China is featured by three aspects: first, it has established the most comprehensive database in the world for the energy label of energy-using products. Second, it has the records management for over 1000 testing laboratories of energy efficiency relevant to energy-consuming products which are manufactured and sold in China and imported from other countries. Third, it has set up the platform for public green consumption supported by information technologies such as the two-dimensional code.

"UL would like to share our international experiences, make long-term cooperation with CNIS and complement each other by means of the technical expertise and talent network in China and the world, in order to promote and enhance the popularity and influence of China energy label across the world." Todd Denson said, the Vice-President of UL.
