Main areas of research in the field of standardization theories and laws and regulations include: research on the theories, principles and methods of standardization, standards system and development rules; research on standardization strategies, policies and related laws and regulations; research on the role and efficiency of standardization and its state of development and assessment index system; research on intellectual property issues in standardization; research on technical laws and regulations and technical trade measures; research on establishment of the system of the standardization discipline and teaching of standardization; research on promotion and application of standards; and research on enterprise standardization strategies. The Institute has been awarded one Second Prize and one Third Prize of AQSIQ for improving inspection through science and technology.
Besides, it serves as the Secretariat of the National Technical Committee of Standardization Theories and Method Standardization (SAC/TC 286) and the liaison office for promotion and implementation of ISO/TMB directives and guide.
