China Standard Certification Center (CSC) is an authoritative organization which is founded by government according to the Energy Conservation Law of the People's Republic of China to implement certification management for Energy Efficient, Water Conservation, and Environment-friendly products. The United Nations Regional Help Desk on Sustainable Consumption and Production for Asia and the Pacific has been established and hosted by CSC. Furthermore CSC seeks the contribution to international organizations, e.g. APEC Expert Working Group on Energy Efficiency and Conservation, ISO Standardization's Technical Committee, etc.

Main Responsibilities:
Develop and issue the technical specifications for the product certification programmes regarding the Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation, and Environment. CSC takes the lead of developing the specification for the government procurement programmes.
Conduct the Product Certification Programmes for Energy Efficient, Water Conservation, and Environment-friendly products.
CSC's Energy Efficiency Labeling Program currently covers home appliances, lighting, electronic products, industrial products, office equipment and building materials, etc.
The Water Conservation Labeling Program today covers industry, agriculture, resident and unconventional water resources utilization, etc.
CSC's Eco-labeling Program distinguishes products with low environmental impact, facilities and products for pollution prevention, and resource conserving products.
The Efficient Lighting Initiative (ELI) is a voluntary international program for certifying the quality and efficiency of lighting products. ELI seeks to promote and accelerate the widespread adoption of energy efficient lighting products and thereby reduce global greenhouse gas emissions (www.efficientlighting.net).
CSC has been assigned to administrate the China Compulsory Certification Program (CCC) for indoor decorating and refurbishing materials including solvent carpentry paint and ceramic tile.
Provide the technical supports for implementing the National Policies, e.g. certifying the energy efficient, water-saving and environmental-friendly products for the Government Energy Efficiency Procurement Policy, etc.
Conduct fundamental research and policy consultation about energy, resource, and environment protection for the governments, e.g. "Government Sector Energy Management","Government Procurement for Energy Efficient Products", and"China Water Conservation Products ( Equipment ) List", etc.
Engage in bi- and multilateral co-operation with international partners in the field of energy efficiency and sustainable consumption and production and plays an active role in the regional harmonization of standard and labeling programs.
