The National Standards Technical Examination Department of China National Standardization Administration (SAC) undertakes the responsibility of national standards examination and the final technical examination before a standard is issued. The Department also performs assessment of standards drafting quality. Meanwhile, it is in charge of archiving of industrial standards and local standards and national standards archives management. It also provides technical support to its higher level authorities.
The National Standards Technical Examination Department combines management responsibility and scientific research while performing its government functions. It focuses on applied scientific research in standardization, and is engaged in improvement of the quality level of national standards and promotion of coordination between national standards to better serve the central government, the industries and local governments.
The National Standards Technical Examination Department works at the forefront of the formulation of national standards and has extensive and close relationship with competent authorities of the State Council and national technical instutitions of standardization.
Since its establishment in 1988, the National Standards Technical Examination Department has examined over 22,000 national standards, archived over 27,000 national standards, over 35,000 industrial standards and over 11,000 local standards. It has developed databases of standards information and has undertaken many managerial and technical tasks for the Standardization Administration of China.
The National Standards Technical Examination Department has three specialized offices and a comprehensive office. The three specialized offices are responsible for examination of national standards for agriculture and food, standards for the service industry and industrial standards. The comprehensive office is responsible for archiving of industrial standards and local standards, standards archive management, database development, technical supports, etc.
