Overall positioning: The Institute of Industrial and Consumer Products Quality and Safety Standardization was established in 2005 through the reform of CNIS. The institute has established five key areas of research and it is home to CNIS Customer Satisfaction Measurement Center and Secretariat of SAC/TC151 (mirroring ISO/TC176). Research projects of the Institute are close coordinated with the requirements of AQSIQ, SAC and other government departments and requirements of the market. It has been focusing on research and standardization efforts in fields including quality management standardization, industrial and risk management standardization, market quality assessment, quality credit, and consumer product quality and safety administration. It has undertaken a series of state-level key research projects in the Ninth-Five-Year Plan period, the Tenth-Five-Year Plan period and the Eleventh-Five-Year Plan period, and has been providing technical support to government administrations and technical services to enterprises. To provide better technical support and technical service, the Institute is actively expanding its areas of research and developing its technical platform. It is preparing the Quality Awareness and Behavior Analysis Laboratory, the National Technical Committee for Risk Management Standardization, the National Technical Subcommittee for Enterprise Quality Credit Standardization and the National Technical Committee of Consumer Product Quality and Safety Standardization. We believe that establishment of such technical platforms shall lay a sound foundation for improvement of our scientific research capability and technical means.
Goal of development: In the Eleventh-Five-Year Plan period, the Institute shall become an authority and internationally acclaimed research institution in two areas of research, research on quality management standardization and research on industrial and risk management standardization, and it shall become a leading research institution in research and standardization in fields including enterprise quality credit and consumer product quality and safety standardization, and quality assessment.
Main areas of research: Quality management, risk management, quality assessment, quality credit, quality and safety of consumer products.
Research team: The Institute currently has 48 specialized researchers, among whom 12 are permanent research staff, 6 are employed experts and 30 are dedicated assessment specialists employed for the assessment center. Among the researchers, 8 have senior titles, 14 have master degrees or above and 6 have Ph.D degrees.
